Seven Georgia wrestlers, including six from state champion Archer, made the National High School Coaches Association 2013-14 Academic All-American Team, which includes 125 student-athletes from 27 states and an American school in Germany.
Mountain View’s Adam Flatt was the only local wrestler on the team not from Archer. The class of 2015 selection has a 3.7 GPA and ranks 49th in a class of 458 academically. On the mat, he was state runner-up last season with a 53-4 record (150-23 for his career).
Archer also had two selections to the class of 2015 list, Sam Bullard and Elliott Lee. Bullard has a 4.0 GPA, ranking 19th of 554 in his class, and is a three-time state placer with two runner-up finishes. He went 52-10 last season (160-23 career). Lee, a state champion last season, has a 3.4 GPA. He was 44-1 last season (91-9 career).
The Tigers had three class of 2016 selections — Vinny Artigues, Daniel Bullard and Christopher Diaz. Artigues has a 3.9 GPA, ranking 78th of 613, and placed third at state last season with a 55-4 record (105-10 career). Bullard has a 4.0 GPA, which puts him 22nd of 613, and is a two-time state and NHSCA national champion. He was 56-4 last season (106-9 career). Diaz, who has a 3.9 GPA and ranks 64th of 613, is a two-time state runner-up with a 109-9 career record (55-4 last season). He also was NHSCA national runner-up this year.
In the class of 2017, Archer’s Quinn Miller earned a spot thanks to a 4.0 GPA and No. 90 class ranking out of 649. He was state runner-up with a 43-7 record as a freshman and followed that up by winning the NHSCA national title.
