Gwinnett County Fire Investigators are attempting to identify a group of older teens who were seen in the 3400 block of Sweetwater Road in Lawrenceville where four separate grass/woods fires were reported according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
Firefighters responded to the first of three fires at 6:30 p.m. believed to be intentionally set in the wood line between the Prescott Apartment complex and the Cascade Apartment complex all near each other. Remnants of a fourth grass/woods fire were also discovered across the street on Sweetwater Road in front of the Prescott Apartments according to Rutledge. All the fires were small and confined to vegetation only. There was no damage reported to any buildings or vehicles and no immediate threat to the nearby apartments.
Witnesses reported seeing three or four older teens who were in the immediate area during the fires but the teens were gone before the fire department arrived.
Anyone with information about the fires or the unidentified teens is asked to please contact the Gwinnett Fire Investigations Section at 678-518-4890.
