Lionheart Theatre’s upcoming summer camp offers children and teens an opportunity to explore photography, painting, gardening, acting, rocketry and more.
The Summer Fine Arts and Science Camp is for ages 8 to 18 and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily July 7 through 11.
“Some of the children will love the bug collecting and rocketry,” said Tanya Caldwell, Lionheart’s producing artistic director. “Others will want to get their hands full of paint. The camp offers exposure to the arts and scientific exploration, but the campers will just call it fun.”
Local experts in all the topics will share their passion and in-depth knowledge.
Anne Labaire, a well-known local artist from Kudzu Arts Zone, will help campers paint birdhouses.
“I’ve been an artist since I touched my first Crayola,” Labaire said. “I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and share the beauty of art with the campers.”
Award-winning photojournalist Cathy Seith with teach photography using Norcross as a background, while Carol McGregor, a member of the Norcross Garden Club, with teach gardening.
The camp will be held at the Lionheart Performing Arts Center at 125 Lawrenceville St. in Norcross, between city hall and the fire station. The cost is $175. To register, call 678-365-6561.
