LAWRENCEVILLE — At least three weeks before she was arrested on child molestation charges, family members knew that Heather Dalton had moved her son’s bed into the room she shared with her boyfriend — a man Dalton had reportedly told them downloaded child porn.
Gwinnett County police Det. Sheila McMillan testified Friday that Dalton, arrested last week following an FBI raid at her Buford home, forced her 5-year-old son to sleep in her bedroom behind a locked door. The boy allegedly told police that Dalton put her mouth on his “bladder” while her boyfriend, Samuel London, watched.
Dalton also made the child touch her chest and tried at least once to have intercourse with him, McMillan said.
“He described several specific times it happened,” McMillan said.
As Dalton — diminutive, streaks of pink in her auburn hair — stared at her attorney’s notes, the detective testified that two other adults living in the home on Old Spring Way had noticed strange behavior for some time.
Dalton’s aunt and adult brother both told police that her son had been sleeping in the same bedroom for at least three weeks, and that Dalton locked the door at night. They had also been told by Dalton that London, who was taken into FBI custody last week, had downloaded child pornography, McMillan said.
London had reportedly lived in the home for about 18 months.
The charges of aggravated child molestation and child molestation filed against Dalton were bound over to superior court Friday. The 27-year-old is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County jail.
Authorities were originally led to Gwinnett after FBI agents in Michigan arrested a man for child pornography. That man reportedly told officials that he had swapped images with a couple from Buford.
