The Georgia Department of Transportation says they are prepared for possible winter weather conditions forecast for the area.
"The Department has ample personnel and resources located throughout the state and will pre-treat and treat roads throughout as conditions warrant," a release said.
The DOT said manpower, equipment, salt and gravel can be relocated from lesser impacted areas if necessary and agreements are in place with private contractors to assist in clearing roadways if needed.
"The crews’ first priority will be the Interstate Highway System and heavily travelled U.S. and State routes," officials said.
The department also said they will closely coordinate efforts with the National Weather Service and state and local officials to best utilize resources.
Officials urged motorists to refrain from unnecessary driving if conditions deteriorate as forecast.
