PREP ROUNDUP: Archer reaches 20 wins

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer matched its win total from 2012-13 and stayed undefeated in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 72-56 win over Central on Saturday to give them 20 wins on the season.

The Tigers (20-2, 13-0) were led by Madison Newby with 19 points and 10 assists, while Autumn Newby had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Linsey Marchese contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Amber Skidgel had 10 points.


Parkview 53, Dacula 16

DACULA — Parkview moved to 19-2 on the year and 11-1 in the region with a 53-16 win over Dacula on Saturday.

The Panthers were led by Raven Johnson with 12 points, while Dominique Leonidas had 10.

Dacula was led by Jonnae Johnson with six points.

Peachtree Ridge 56, Collins Hill 41

Peachtree Ridge led by just three points after three quarters against Collins Hill but put together a solid fourth quarter to pull away for a 56-41 win.

Kendra Purifoye came off the bench to lead the late surge for the Lions (11-10, 6-6) by scoring eight of her 15 points in the fourth.

Marisa Bowman also finished with 15 points for Peachtree Ridge, while Lorrie Cruse scored 12 with three assists. Justina Young also helped with nine points.

Collins Hill (11-8, 4-7) was led by 11 points from Sydney Brown and nine points from Kyra Dixon. Collins Hill outrebounded the Lions 35-13, but couldn’t overcome 26 turnovers.

Shiloh 43, Brookwood 40

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh moved to 8-11 on the year and 4-9 in the region with a 43-40 win over Brookwood on Saturday.

The Generals were led by Racquel Cranston with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Uche Ibebunjo had 12 points, three steals and seven rebounds.

Salem 77, Meadowcreek 30

CONYERS — Meadowcreek dropped to 1-21 on the year with a 77-30 loss at Salem on Saturday.

The Mustangs were led by Ashley Oku with 17 points.


Shiloh 56, Brookwood 43

SNELLVILLE — Shiloh moved to 13-6 on the year and 10-3 in the region with a 56-43 win over Brookwood on Saturday.

The Generals were led by Kareem Brewton with 20 points, while Josh Okogie had 13. Elliot Strickland also contributed 11 points.

Apalachee 79,

Habersham Central 43

MT. AIRY — Apalachee moved to 18-3 on the year with a 79-43 non-region win over Habersham Central on Saturday.

The Wildcats were led by Kamar Baldwin with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Kent Knowles had 16 points and six assists. Joey German also contributed 16 points and Right Patterson had 10.

Meadowcreek 69, Salem 45

CONYERS — Meadowcreek moved to 11-10 on the year with a 69-45 win over Salem on Saturday.

Rayshawn Hammond led the Mustangs with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Laquan Johnson had 12 pionts and 11 rebounds. Anothony Jenkins had 13 points and seven rebounds, while A.J. Hicks had 10 points, five assists and six steals.

LOCUST GROVE — Meadowcreek finished third at the Last Man Standing traditional tournament Saturday at Luella.

Raymond Washington (126 pounds), Adeniyi Henderson-Harden (152) and Ogunlana Henderson-Harden (170) all won their respective weight classes, while Milik Saunders (113) and Mardele Hobely (285) each finished third. Nighee Eddington (138) also took fourth for the Mustangs.
