SNELLVILLE —An AMC television show is set to film a car crash scene in Snellville on Friday.
“Halt and Catch Fire,” a new show for the cable network, will be shooting scenes at the intersection of Street Deville and El Dorado Place on Friday morning.
According to Brian Arrington, public information officer for the city, show officials said they will be setting up early Friday and will shoot by mid-morning. There will also be scenes shot at a nearby house in the afternoon and a few scenes after dark.
Set in the early 1980s, the series takes a look at the personal computer boom through the eyes of a young engineer and prodigy who takes on corporate competition. Snellville will double as a Texas town — a computer software hotbed known as the “Silicon Prairie.”
City Economic Development Manager Eric Van Otteren said he encourages more TV and movie productions to find their way to Snellville to cash in on its Southern charm.
“Movies are money,” he said. “And they will spend a little while they are here.”
Filming for the episode is also slated to take place at the Atlanta Country Club and other streetscapes downtown. The show will star Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishe and Mackenzie Davis. There is no information yet on when the show will air.
