A former longtime assistant principal and teacher at Collins Hill High is returning to the school.
The Gwinnett County Board of Education on Monday approved Kerensa Wing, Lanier High’s principal, as principal of Collins Hill. Wing replaces Glenn McFall, who retired last month after leading the school since 2002. Ronni Ford, a former Meadowcreek High principal, has served as acting principal since McFall’s retirement.
At a specially called meeting, the BOE also approved Bay Creek Middle Princial Dana Pugh as the new principal at Grayson High. Pugh replaces David Hopson, who announced his retirement last month, effective Jan. 31.
Wing was an assistant principal at Collins Hill from 2002-09 when she left to open Lanier High. She began her GCPS tenure in 1990 as a social studies teacher at Shiloh High and Collins Hill High.
In 2008, Pugh took over Bay Creek after he served as principal at Summerour Middle from 2004-08, and was an assistant principal from 2000-04 at Hull Middle. He was previously a school counselor and teacher in DeKalb County.
The appointments mean 17 schools, including eight high schools, will have a new principal since the school year began.
