PREP ROUNDUP: Ramsay's double lifts Lanier to 3-2 win over Wesleyan

SUGAR HILL — Matt Ramsay hit a three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to lift Lanier to a 3-2 win over Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

Trenton Little and Cam Coursey opened the inning with hits and T.J. Richardson was hit by a pitch to load the bases to set up Ramsay’s heroics. Ramsay also earned himself the win as he pitched two shutout innings and struck out four Wolves.

Kam Doster started for Lanier (2-2) and went five innings, yielding two runs and striking out four.

Andrew Sauer pitched six innings for Wesleyan and had a shutout going until the Longhorn rally. Sam McWhorter had a key triple for the Wolves.

BOYS BASEBALL

Norcross 6, Westlake 1

NORCROSS — Griffin Helms smacked a solo home run as Norcross defeated Westlake 6-1 Wednesday night.

Trey Nelson pitched four innings, allowing one run and striking out four to pick up the win for the Blue Devils (2-1).

Jascanel Ferreras, Trevor Craport, Andrew Lightle, Emmanuel Long and Jack Ganter each drove in a run for Norcross.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Collins Hill 19, Lovett 10

SUWANEE — Kate Dougherty and Abby Squires each scored four goals and added two assists to help lead Collins Hill to a 19-10 win over Lovett Wednesday night.

Emily Napierala had three goals for the Eagles (2-0). Calli Star and Anna Britt added two goals for Collins Hill.

Brookwood 16, North Atlanta 6

ATLANTA — Brookwood picked up its first win of the season as it defeated North Atlanta 16-6 Wednesday.

Amila Shake, Tiffany Kongpachith and Haley Curtin each scored three goals for the Broncos (1-1). Avery Freeman had nine draw controls for Brookwood.

GIRLS TENNIS

Wesleyan 3, Peachtree Ridge 2

NORCROSS — A pair of doubles wins sparked Wesleyan to a 3-2 win over Peachtree Ridge at home.

At No. 1 doubles Kaitlin English and Leila Jordan joined the No. 2 doubles team of Katie McLaughlin and Katie Van Laeke with wins for the Wolves (2-1). Lauren Alexander won the decisive point for Wesleyan at No. 3 singles.

Jena Kelly won at No. 1 singles and Ali Mills at No. 2 singles for Peachtree Ridge (1-3)

Mountain View 3, Pinecrest Academy 2

DACULA — Courtney Conley won at No. 1 singles and Brittany Link won at No. 3 as Mountain View took a 3-2 win over Pinecrest.

The No. 2 doubles team of Madison Palomba and Erica Ebitz took the third point for the Bears (4-1).

Mill Creek 4, St. Pius X 1

ATLANTA — Led by a pair of wins from its doubles teams, Mill Creek took a 4-1 win over St. Pius.

Emily Husfeld and Madison Walsh won at No. 1 doubles and Madeline Hill and Kaleigh Hahn took the win at No. 2 doubles.

Singles winners for the Hawks (3-2) were Madison Hahn at No. 1 and Katie Hill at No. 3.

BOYS TENNIS

Peachtree Ridge 4, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS — Peachtree Ridge took four matches for a 4-1 win over Wesleyan for its first win of the season.

Winners for the Lions (1-3) were Kevin Lim at No. 1 singles, Colin Greeff at No. 3 singles and the doubles teams of Taylor Foote and Alex Peed and Taylor Galloway and Niki Makarenko.

Patrick English won at No. 2 singles for Wesleyan (0-3).

Brookwood 5, Lambert 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Brookwood upped its record to 5-0 on the season with a 5-0 whitewashing of Lambert on Wednesday night.

Brandon Mills, Will George and Zach Jennings won singles matches for the Broncos. The doubles duos of Will McWhirt and David Brown along with Anthony Porcelli and Ryan Pridgon were also winners.

Mountain View 3, Pinecrest Academy 2

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View defeated Pinecrest Academy in non-region action Wednesday night.

Erik Sequeria and Chris Taddei were singles winners for the Bears while Troy Major and Josh Gilber teamed up in doubles for the win.
