PREP ROUNDUP: Moore stifles Longhorns in opener

SUGAR HILL —AJ Moore pitched five shutout innings to help Mountain View to a 3-1 win over Lanier Thursday. Moore (1-0) struck out nine Longhorns. Ben Utley picked up the save in addition to collecting two hits and driving in two runs.

Lanier’s TJ Richardson collected his 100th career hit in the game.

SNELLVILLE — Godofredo Pacheco, Christian Kanan and Adrian Lollar each scored as Shiloh defeated Walnut Grove 3-2 Thursday night.

Collins Hill 4, Buford 1

BUFORD — Collins Hill evened its record with a 4-1 win over Buford Thursday. Evan Padvorac, Shayon Malek and Luke Eafano swept the singles for the Eagles (1-1). Collins Hill’s no. 2 doubles team of Alex Harris and Duncan McGilvray were also winners. Buford picked up its win at no. 1 doubles with Skylar Wilson and Avery Turner winning their match.

Mill Creek 4, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS — Mill Creek defeated Wesleyan 4-1 Thursday night. Kyle Mendoza and Shawn Tribble won at Nos. 2 and 3 singles for the Hawks (1-2). Jake Foley and Thomas Godwin along with Jacob Lattie and Avery Arneson won the doubles matches for Mill Creek. Cole Brown was victorious at no 1. singles for Wesleyan.

Brookwood 5, Dacula 0

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood improved to 3-0 with a 5-0 win over Dacula Thursday. Will George, David Brown and Will McWhit won their singles matches. Zac Jennings partnered with Brooks Berry while Jocob Mallow and Matt Bullock won the doubles matches for the Broncos.

Lanier 3, Mountain View 2

LAWRENCEVILLE — Lanier picked up its first win of the season with a 3-2 win over Mountain View Thursday. Preson Walter and Kevin Wagner won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Armin Zmajevac and Nehal Patel won at no. 2 doubles for the Longhorns (1-1).

Norcross 3, Alpharetta 2

NORCROSS — Norcross swept the singles matches en route to a 3-2 win over Alpharetta Thursday. William Peoh, Sean McKendree and Jeff McKendree posted wins for the Blue Devils (2-0).

Duluth 4, West Hall 1

OAKWOOD — Duluth defeated West Hall 4-1 Thursday to improve to 2-0 on the season. Ganesh Prabakaran and Abhi Ramachandiran won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. The doubles teams of Jason Wang and Egor Teryushkov along with Gowtham Ramesh and Noah Buchanan also posted wins for the Wildcats.

Grayson 4, Berkmar 1

LOGANVILLE — Grayson defeated Berkmar 4-1 Thursday. Joelan Howse and Cameron Davis won their singles matches for the Rams. Omar Abuaisheh and Zachary Cavaness along with Matthew Hollingsworth and Jakeem Booker won doubles matches for Grayson.

Parkview 5, Central 0

LILBURN — Parkview defeated Central Gwinnett 5-0 Thursday night. Dustin Bowie, Andrew Joel and Calvin Gratz won in singles while Nicholas Button and Jonathon Su along with Riley Shannon and Andy Reagin won at doubles for the Panthers.

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Providence Christian 4-1 Thursday. Chris Elam picked up a singles win for the Storm.

Mill Creek 4, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS — Mill Creek picked up its first win of the year with a 4-1 over Wesleyan Thursday night. Madison Hahn, Abbi Jordan and Katie Hill swept the singles matches while Madeline Hill and Kaleigh Hahn won at No. 2 doubles for the Hawks. Wesleyan picked up its victory when Kaitlin English and Lelia Jordan won at No. 1 doubles.

Archer 5, Winder Barrow 0

WINDER — Archer improved to 3-0 with a sweep of Winder Barrow Thursday. Michelle Samson, Nicole Samson, Kayla Gibson along with the doubles duos of Kaitlyn Balsamides and Sydney Sorenson and Melissa Jackson and Tori Lawson posted the win for the Tigers.

Duluth 5, West Hall 0

OAKWOOD — Duluth notched its first win of the season with a 5-0 win over West Hall Thursday. Morgan Cage and Sonia Lau posted singles wins. Megan Waldheim and Camera Dunn along with Emilie Lezielle and Ella Bielicki posted wins in the doubles matches for the Wildcats.

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Providence 3-2 Thursday night. Providence picked up wins by Vani Crist in singles and the doubles duo of Maddie Schoone and Ansley Harper.

Parkview 5, Central 0

LILBURN — Parkview swept Central Gwinnett 5-0 Thursday night. Sierra Larkin, Savannah Larkin and Katelynn Thomas won for the Panthers in singles. Abbie Nelms and Ally Blake along with Haley Keith and Cassidy Carswell won the doubles matches for Parkview.

Lanier 3, Mountain View 2

LAWRENCEVILLE — Lanier defeated Mountain View 3-2 Thursday night. Lauren Byrd won her singles match while the doubles duos of Victoria Inman and Liz Handley along with Meg McRee and Lindsey Wong won for the Longhorns.

Grayson 4, Berkmar 1

LOGANVILLE — Grayson defeated Berkmar 4-1 Thursday night. Julia Howse and Molly Doyle won at singles for the Rams. Hanna Brown and Asha Henderson along with Mariel White and Morgan Gunter won their doubles matches for Grayson.

Brookwood 4, Dacula 1

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over Dacula Thursday night. Liz Slaughter and Esther deMiguel won singles matches while Emily Bauer and Katie Derreberry along with Abby Bland and Hannah Mason won doubles matches for the Broncos.

Alpharetta 3, Norcross 2

ALPHARETTA — Norcross droped a 3-2 decision to Alpharetta Thursday night. Amber Lackey won her singles match and Shely Schreter and Kristie Teoh won their doubles match for the Blue Devils.

Buford 4, Collins Hill 1

BUFORD — Buford improved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-1 win over Collins Hill. Annalea Stevens and Bailey McCammon won at No. 2 and 3 singles. Both doubles teams won as Savannah Whaley and Abbey Mitchell along with Peyton Wolfe and Katie Quinn were victorious.

BOYS LACROSSE

North Gwinnett 10, St. Pius 8

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett held off St. Pius 10-8 Thursday night. Colton Garvin and Luke Printz each had two goals and two assists for the Bulldogs (2-0). Evan Richardson made six saves in net for North Gwinnett.

GAC 11, Newnan 0

NORCROSS — Gunner Cape scored five goals to help lead Great Atlanta Christian to a 11-0 win over Newnan Thursday. Britt Kennedy and Parker Stevens each scored twice for the Spartans. Brooks Rice contributed three assists and won 75 percent of his faceoffs. Brad Hodoval made 10 saves to post the shutout for GAC (2-0).

Lassiter 18, Mill Creek 7

MARIETTA — Mill Creek fell to Lassiter 18-7 Thursday night. Rachel Gann and Shely Allen each had two goals for the Hawks.
