NORCROSS — Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying the man who robbed a Norcross Walmart at knifepoint.
Gwinnett County police released Friday surveillance photos from the Jan. 30 incident at the Walmart store located at 4975 Jimmy Carter Blvd. At about 11:40 p.m. that day, the suspect approached a cashier under the guise of purchasing a pellet gun.
“When the cashier opened the register, the suspect brandished a knife and lunged toward the cash drawer,” police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said. “The cashier ran from the register, unharmed.”
The suspect — a black male wearing a brown jacket with a fur hood, as well as a blue beanie — then took “a large sum of cash” from the register before fleeing on foot.
Police have further described the suspect as between 6 feet and 6 feet, 4 inches tall; 180 to 220 pounds; and 30 to 40 years old. In addition to the jacket and hat, he was wearing blue jeans and tan boots, and may have had a beard.
Anyone that can help identify the suspect is asked call 911 or 770-513-5355.
