SNELLVILLE — Ronald Reagan Parkway was closed to traffic Wednesday due to icy road conditions. It will also be closed Friday into Saturday as participants in the annual Run the Reagan road race take to the asphalt.
Participants in the annual Run the Reagan road race have ran with snow on the ground but never ice, and Dwight Harrison, a member of the board of directors that organizes the race, hopes this year is no different, as Saturday’s race is still on.
“We’re definitely going to have the race and we will be running it,” Harrison said.
“The best race we ever had was when it was in the snow, that was three years ago,” said Norman Freid, chairman of the board of directors for the race.
Any decisions regarding race packet pickup, which is set to take place Friday, will be made Thursday, and decisions on the race will be made Friday, Freid said. In the unfortunate event the race has to be canceled or postponed due to weather conditions, information will be posted on www.runthereagan.org.
“We don’t anticipate that,” Harrison said. “This is our 20th anniversary and it has never been canceled.”
