Gwinnett Daily Post
Two emergency shelters have been established in Gwinnett County.
County spokesman Joe Sorenson said Wednesday afternoon that the Georgia Emergency Management Agency had set up a pair of shelters to help those seeking refuge from the snow and ice.
Shelter space is available at the Georgia Armory at 261 E. Crogan St. in Lawrenceville and the Maryam Masjid Islamic Center at 3650 Savannah Place Drive in Duluth.
Those in need can find up-to-date information by visiting gema.ga.gov and clicking on the “Latest Information” and “Real-time Shelter Information” tabs.
Sherry Nicholson, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross’ Metro Atlanta Chapter, said her organization does not necessarily set up its own shelters but helps provide supplies to others. Shelters and warming centers operated by Red Cross partners can be located by downloading the free “American Red Cross: Shelter View” app.
