LAWRENCEVILLE — A Lawrenceville man suffered serious injuries in an early morning fire at his home.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the 100 block of Dogwood Lane at about 12:10 a.m. Friday, finding “heavy flames showing from the back” of the single-story home.
“Firefighters made entry inside the burning home, but were forced to back out moments later due to intense fire conditions and a partial collapse,” Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
While crews continued to battled the blaze, they provided aid to an adult male occupant that was already outside the home. The male “sustained smoke inhalation and burns,” Rutledge said, and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.
No further specifics were released regarding the man’s injuries, though they were described as “serious.”
The home sustained serious damage and was a total loss, Rutledge said.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist three adults displaced by the damage.
