NORCROSS — A taxi driver was found dead early Saturday morning at a Norcross apartment complex after Norcross Police were called by a resident of Spring Lake Apartments.

Norcross Police Capt. Bill Grogan said a man, 36-year-old Afolabi Andrew Odifa, working for ATL Taxi was found slumped over in a car at 800 Chase Common Drive when police were called just before 3 a.m. The caller added that the car had been in the parking lot for a couple of hours.

Paramedics called to the scene said the man had been shot at least once, Grogan said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, while Norcross Police is assisting, Grogan said.

“We’re canvassing the entire area,” Grogan said. “We have scores of leads, pages of them, and they’re ticking them off as they go.”

GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Odifa, a resident of the 3200 block of Sunrise Village Lane in Norcross, is a native of Nigeria. He moved to the United States in 2008, to Georgia in September, 2013, and had been in this job since June.
