FLOWERY BRANCH — Buford's softball team overcame a 2-1 deficit to defeat Archer 7-3 in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament Friday.
Emily Crocker pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the win for the Wolves (4-0).
Buford racked up 14 hits in the contest. Jordan Deep, Sydney Stavro, Drew Puckett and Kennedy Kotula each had two hits. Deep and Kotula led Buford with two RBIs apiece.
Dacula splits in tourney
FLOWERY BRANCH — Dacula defeated Flowery Branch 5-1 and fell to Apalachee 3-1 in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament Friday.
Alaina Bock (2-0) allowed only two hits in the Falcons' win over Flowery Branch. Kristan Lizardi led Dacula with three hits while Alexis Deadwyler added two. Deadwyler drove in two runs while the third was driven in by Baylee Bedingfield.
In the nightcap, Sabrina Sieber had two hits and Deadwyler drove in Dacula's only run in the defeat.
Lanier, Norcross compete in tournament
FLOWERY BRANCH — Norcross dropped a pair of games in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament Friday.
Lanier evened its record at 3-3 with a 7-2 win over the Blue Devils. Norcross then fell 6-4 to First Presbyterian Day 6-4.
Cameron Dillard pitched six shutout innings to get the win in the circle for the Longhorns. Noelle Petty had two hits, including a triple and drove in two runs. Savannah Cowdry also had two hits and drove in two runs for Lanier. Kelly Schmidt and Anna Palmer each had two hits for the Blue Devils.
In the nightcap, Schmidt had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Norcross (0-3). Ally Shores, Vanessa Bradford and Jessee Hoage also had two hits for the Blue Devils.
Mill Creek wins twice
HOSCHTON — Mill Creek defeated Effingham County 4-2 and Pickens County 7-2 in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament Friday.
Kaitlyn Howell picked up the win in the circle and drove in two runs for the Hawks in the opener. Cheyanne Leger had three hits to lead Mill Creek.
Skylar Hayward was the winning pitcher in the nightcap. Hannah Adams had two hits to lead the Hawks (3-1-1).
Greater Atlanta Christian 18, Meadowcreek 1
NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian posted its first win of the season with an 18-1, three-inning win over Meadowcreek on Friday.
Maria Harris did not allow a hit and struck out eight Mustangs to pick up the win for the Spartans.
Stephanie McIntosh, Amanda Briskin, Sarah Braswell, Lacey Shaffer and Lauren Mullininx each had two hits for GAC. Briskin drove in four runs while McIntosh and Braswell each drove in two for the Spartans.
Norcross splits at Sequoyah
CANTON — Norcross split its matches at the Sequoyah Classic on Friday.
The Blue Devils defeated South Forsyth (16-25, 25-21, 15-13) and fell to Northgate (21-25, 25-20, 11-15).
Shelby King led Norcross with 25 kills. Sammie Baker added 41 assists and 15 digs while Lydia Gratwick had 17 digs.
