LAWRENCEVILLE — The Lawrenceville woman killed Saturday in a believed murder-suicide had tried to end the relationship with her assailant, police said.
The father of 32-year-old Patricia Murray went to her home on Jordan Woods Drive Saturday after not hearing from her. He found her body inside and called 911.
When Gwinnett County police arrived, they found 34-year-old Raul Covarrubias deceased in another part of the home. Authorities believe Covarrubias killed Murray before taking his own life.
“Detectives believe (Murray) may have broken up with or tried to break up with (Covarrubias),” police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Tuesday. “Their relationship was rocky according to family and friends.”
Online court records showed no legal history between the couple. Other records showed Covarrubias had no criminal history in Gwinnett, though he was arrested twice in DeKalb County in the 1990s on non-violent offenses.
