Despite a great showing from two Collins Hill wrestlers, Team USA defeated Team Georgia 37-15 in the 18th annual Cliff Keen/Wrestling USA Magazine Dream Team Classic, a highly touted dual match held Sunday at Lassiter.
Collins Hill’s Sean Russell and Ryan Millhof both won their matches against tough opponents, providing two of the biggest highlights for Georgia.
Millhof, an Oklahoma signee, won a 5-3 decision over West Virginia-bound Zeke Moisey of Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.) in the 126-pound match. Russell, an Edinboro signee, defeated Lehigh signee Scotty Parker of Pennridge (Pa.) 5-2 at 120 pounds.
Apalachee’s Matt Moore, a North Carolina signee, pinned Harlem (Ill.) wrestler Sage Hecox in the 220 match.
It didn’t go as well for the other two local wrestlers. North Carolina signee Chip Ness of Buford lost a 12-3 major decision at 182 to Penn State-bound Bo Nickal of Allen, Texas. Archer’s M.J. Couzan, a Tennessee State football signee, was pinned at 285 by Edinboro recruit Billy Miller of Perry, Ohio.
The Wrestling Academy’s Gwinnett-based coaches Dustin Kawa and Terry Allison coached Team Georgia.
