PREP ROUNDUP: Gimbert scores OT goal for Mountain View

LAWRENCEVILLE — Taylor Gimbert wasted no time in the first overtime period, scoring 15 seconds in to give Mountain View a 4-3 win over Central Gwinnett.

Brittany Doyle, Ashley Lewis and Shelby Gray scored goals in regulation for the Bears who improved to 7-8.

Brookwood 2, Collins Hill 1

SNELLVILLE — Desiree Bowen took an assist from Paige Hoover for Collins Hill’s only goal in a 2-1 loss to Brookwood on Saturday.

The Eagles fell to 8-5 on the season.

Boys soccer

Central Gwinnett 6, Mountain View 1

LAWRENCEVILLE — Carlos Ramirez scored the only goal of the night in Mountain View’s 6-1 loss to Central Gwinnett.

Kyle Chesler had the assist for the Bears (1-12-1).

Collins Hill 3, Brookwood 2 (PKs)

SNELLVILLE — Collins Hill broke the tie on the seventh kick in penalty kicks, edging Brookwood 3-2.

For the Broncos (14-1-0) Brahan Gamarra and Jordan Locke each scored goals in the team’s first loss.

Collins Hill improved to 10-5-0 on the season.


Providence 4, Lakeview Academy 3

LILBURN — Carey Spratlin had enough in the ninth inning.

With the game tied at 3-3, Providence’s starting pitcher walked, advanced to second on an error, stole third and then scored on a wild pitch to push the Storm (11-9, 9-4) to a 4-3 win over Lakeview Academy.

Before scoring the winning run, Spratlin pitched the first six innings, striking out seven and walking just one. Carson Porterfield earned the win, pitching a one-hit inning. Jacob Koerper was 2-for-3 for Providence.

Hebron 5, Athens Christian 2

DACULA — Joey Ruiz and Parker Runnels each knocked in a run and went 2-for-3 to lead Hebron to a 5-2 win over Athens Christian.

Haydn Nechanichy was 1-for-2 with a solo home run and Drew Coker was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Brad Runnels (4-0) took the win, pitching six innings and striking out six. Jake Hershman pitched the seventh for the save for the Lions (15-6, 12-1).
