This week, Aurora Theatre’s artistic director Anthony P. Rodriguez announced the shows for the company’s 19th season, which will be sponsored by Peach State Federal Credit Union. The Peach State Signature Series will feature four musicals and two plays.
The season will kick off this summer with the high-flying spectacle “Mary Poppins” and will also include a remount of last year’s wildly successful “Les Miserables.” The other shows for this season are Pulitzer Prize-winning “Clybourne Park,” “The Explorers Club,” “Hands On A Hardbody” and Gwinnett’s longest-running theatrical holiday tradition, “Aurora’s Christmas Canteen”.
Rodriguez also announced that the company will continue to present its highly popular Harvel Lab Series sponsored by Georgia Gwinnett College. Three contemporary plays will be performed in Aurora’s intimate 90-seat studio. The company will also continue the Learning Library, a weekday educational play series for elementary school field trips.
The new season will also include “Aurora’s Comedy Nights”, bringing quality stand-up comedy to Gwinnett. The popular “Lawrenceville, Georgia Ghost Tours” will continue to be one of the area’s favorite tourist attractions.
Along the the theatrical performances and traditional events, the theatre will also host concerts, author events, wine tastings, the Aurora Theatre Charity Golf Tournament and the Aurora Theatre Barbara Awards Gala.
