PREP ROUNDUP: Winskie, Storm shut down Hebron

DACULA — Jackson Winskie won a pitcher’s duel and Providence Christian rebounded from a tough loss the day before to beat Hebron Christian 3-0 on Thursday.

Coming off a 12-2 loss to Hebron, the Storm rode their ace for all seven innings. Winskie allowed just two hits and struck out three in the win.

Providence (10-9, 8-4) also got the hits it needed to hand the Lions their first region loss. Winskie was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Evan Porter was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Carey Spratlin also came up with a big RBI single in the seventh to push in the Storm’s third run.

Dan Coker was excellent for Hebron (14-6, 11-1) on the mound, but the Lions’ bats couldn’t get anything going against Winskie.


Duluth 20, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS — Allan Carter struck out eight and allowed just two hits in Duluth’s 20-1 defeat of Meadowcreek on Thursday.

Collier Knox was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Duluth (5-14, 3-6). Trey Harris was 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and five runs scored. Jose Ponce was 1-for-1 with a triple and three RBIs, while Sam Weber was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Parkview 11, Berkmar 1

LILBURN — Daino Deas and David Draper each had three RBIs as Parkview beat Berkmar 11-1 in five innings Thursday.

Deas was 2-for-4 and Draper was 3-for-4. Brandon Hill was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Trevor Brown was 3-for-3.

Jordan Kelly picked up the win with four strikeouts and one run on three hits in three innings for the Panthers (15-3, 9-0).

Archer 6, South 1

SNELLVILLE — Jonathan Barnett allowed just one run in 5 1/3 innings to help Archer beat South Gwinnett 6-1 on Thursday.

Connor Sims was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Curtis Terry added three RBIs for the Tigers (10-10-5-5).

Lanier 18, Monroe Area 12

MONROE — Lanier pounded out 21 hits and outslugged Monroe Area for an 18-12 victory on Thursday.

T.J. Richardson was 5-for-6 with a double and two RBIs. Matthew Ramsey was 5-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Trenton Little was 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI, while Bryan Gropp was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Tyler Tillman struck out nine in four innings en route to the win for the Longhorns (14-6, 8-3).


North 3, Island 0

SAVANNAH — North Gwinnett spread the scoring around in a 3-0 shutout of Island on Thursday in Savannah.

Kendall Welkey, Stephanie Lee and Carolina Gualdoni each had a goal for the Bulldogs (7-7).

Savannah Country Day 0

SAVANNAH — Sophomore keeper Danny Conlin pitched a shutout and Grayson beat Savannah Country Day 3-0 on Thursday.

Dean Still, Ben Anderson and Ermin Omeragic scored for the Rams (6-6).
