PREP ROUNDUP: Lions pick up big region win over Mt. View

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge jumped back into the mix with a big 4-0 region win over Mountain View on Tuesday.

Nick Neidert went all seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine for the Lions (13-6, 6-3).

Derek Huff led the offensive effort with a 3-for-3 performance that included an RBI. Matt Traywick and Drew Wharton each had an RBI hit.

Mountain View (16-3, 7-2) had just two hits — from Forrest Girardeau and Josh Logan — against the spot-on Neidert.


Mill Creek 4, Norcross 1

HOSCHTON — Austin Parham had an RBI and two hits to help Mill Creek defeat Norcross 4-1 on Tuesday.

Logan Moseley had a hit and two RBIs, while Cameron Purley added an RBI hit for the Hawks (11-8, 7-2).

Jack Fleming allowed just one run in 5 2/3 innings and earned the win. Andrew Wise closed out the game for the save.

Grayson 7, Dacula 4

LOGANVILLE — Will Ethridge got the win and hit a two-RBI single as Grayson beat Dacula 7-4 on Tuesday.

Ethridge went six innings and struck out five. Julian Dawson earned the save.

Tyler Anight smacked a three-run homer for the Rams (12-7, 8-1). Andrew Falgiano had three hits and Bryant Chandler had an RBI double.

Johnathan Grant took the loss for Dacula (11-8, 5-4). Nick Nollica was 3-for-4 and Austin Collins was 2-for-3.

Brookwood 9,

Central Gwinnett 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Parker Farschman allowed just two hits and two walks in six innings in Brookwood’s 9-0 shutout of Central Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Mickey Creighton was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Justin Hohm was 2-for-3 with an RBi and Connor Holman was 2-for-3 for Brookwood (9-9, 6-3).

Habersham Central 5,

North Gwinnett 2

MT. AIRY — Wes Brooks and Avery Kenyon were both 2-for-2 in North Gwinnett’s 5-2 loss to Habersham Central on Tuesday.

Brooks also had an RBI for the Bulldogs (11-8, 6-3).

Buford 12,

Dawson County 2

BUFORD — Buford remained undefeated with a 12-2 drubbing of Dawson County in five innings Tuesday.

The winning pitcher was Kevin Coulter, who allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out four in four innings.

Joey Bart was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a grand slam for six RBIs.

Griffin Jolliff had a double and two RBIs for the Wolves (17-0, 13-0). Austin Wilhite had a hit, three walks, an RBI and scored three runs.


Wesleyan 9,

Fellowship Christian 8

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Wesleyan stormed back for a 9-8 victory over Fellowship Christian on Tuesday.

The Wolves (8-4, 4-3) were down 7-0 after the first and rallied with three goals each from Matt Zimmerman and Ren Schmitt. Zimmerman added an assist to his hat trick.

Goalkeeper Aaron Smay made 10 saves in the win.


Wesleyan 3, Lovett 2 (OT)

ATLANTA — Grant Sauer scored the game-winning goal with three minutes left in overtime to lift Wesleyan to a 3-2 victory against Lovett on Tuesday.

Cort Coxhead tied the game 1-1 before halftime and then set up the Wolves’ next two goals. After Lovett again took the lead in the second half, Coxhead assisted on a game-tying goal by Will Sharon.

Goalkeeper Austin Pack made six saves, including a couple of critical ones in the second half to help Wesleyan (6-6-1, 1-3) to its first region win.


Woodward Academy 151,

Wesleyan 164

ATLANTA — Tucker Cannon shot a 39 for Wesleyan in a 151-164 loss to Woodward Academy on Tuesday at Wold Creek Golf Club.


Westminster 4, Wesleyan 1

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Savannah Strickland picked up Wesleyan’s lone point at No. 3 singles in a 4-1 loss to Westminster on Tuesday. The Wolves are now 12-4.


Westminster 5, Wesleyan 0

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Wesleyan (3-13) was swept by Westminster 5-0 on Tuesday.
