Environmental Center offers farm tours

The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center is offering tours of McDaniel Farm Park at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays during the months of April and May.

Participants will learn about the history of the McDaniel Farm and get a behind the scenes tour of the Farm House, Barn and Tenant House. The program begins at the Farm House, and the cost is $5 per person. Children 2 and under are free.

The GEHC will also offer a special program about the Cherokee culture on April 9 10 a.m. to noon or 2 to 4 p.m. at McDaniel Farm Park. Participants can explore Cherokee culture during a nature walk and listen to stories from the Cherokee culture while sculpting pottery. The program fee is $5, and registration is required.

Truckload Food Giveaway April 12

The Overcomers House Inc. and The Atlanta Community Food Bank are hosting a free mobile pantry for families in need on April 12 at Healing Place Church in Loganville.

The Overcomers House is nonprofit social services resource center located in Snellville that strives to fight against hunger and heartache in Gwinnett and surrounding counties. The Truckload Food Giveaway Mobile Pantry will begin at 9 a.m., and supplemental food items will be available.

Father-daughter dance planned

The Princess and Me Father Daughter Dance returns to the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville on April 11.

Dads can enjoy spending time with their little sweethearts as they dance and enjoy desserts and punch in the Superior Court Ballroom. A keepsake photo and crown for the “Princess” is included. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and is for ages 4-11 years. The cost is $11, and pre-registration is required.
