Gwinnett County police are looking for this unidentified man, who they believe visited Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth to drop off a fellow burglar that was shot in the face.

NORCROSS — A Norcross-area homeowner shot a would-be burglar in the face Thursday morning.

Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said two men attempted to break into a home on Greenway Road — off Satellite Boulevard in unincorporated Norcross — at about 11 a.m. Thursday. They were unaware, though, that a resident was inside.

That resident called 911. When one of the burglars began crawling through a window a few minutes later, he grabbed a handgun and shot him once in the face.

“Both suspects retreated to a black passenger car and fled the scene,” Smith said. “They were gone by the time officers arrived.”

Within half an hour, police were notified that a man matching the description and injuries of the wounded burglar had checked into Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth. Authorities responded to the hospital and found 22-year-old Tajh Guillont. He was taken into surgery in serious condition, Smith said, but will remain under guard.

“We don’t know if he’s going to pull through yet or not,” Smith said.

Charges have not yet been filed against Guillont.

The second suspect, a black male with dreadlocks, was seen dropping Guillont off at the hospital before leaving in the same black passenger vehicle. He was captured on surveillance video but had not been identified or located as of late Thursday afternoon.

Duluth police did recover his car at an apartment complex near the hospital.

Authorities are not sure if the suspect is armed, but anyone encountering him should call 911. Anyone with information is asked to call Gwinnett County police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
