Disk spotlight - Unfinished Song

Movie: 3 stars out of 4

Disk: 2 1/2 out of 4

One of the (thus far) four superb 2013 romantic dramas geared toward the AARP demographic, “Unfinished Song” (known globally as “Song For Marion”) mixes “young@heart” with “Glee” and something far better than your typical disease-of-the-week tear-jerker. Set in working class England, it stars Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave as an elderly couple with radically different ideas on how to spend their extra retirement time. She likes to sing with the local senior choral group, he likes staring at the walls. Gemma Arterton co-stars as the choral instructor whose song choices are beyond eclectic and are responsible for the bulk of the sideways humor.
