Mountain View Bears (7-AAAAAA)
Coach: Doug Giacone
Record: 1-3, 1-1 region
Last week: Beat Habersham Central 27-0
It’s been a better week at Mountain View.
First, the Bears won their first game of the season last week, taking down struggling Habersham Central. But mostly because of the return in that game of quarterback Crew Perry. The senior had missed the previous two games after suffering an injury in Week 1 against Archer.
“He’s been gradually practicing more and more,” Bears head coach Doug Giacone said. “We are looking forward to having him out there the rest of the season. You need everybody in this region. You have to show up with your ammunition.”
And Giacone knows his Bears will need it against the Eagles' defense.
Safety Rhyan England has four interceptions and linebacker Trevahn Sensabaugh is coming off one of his best games against Habersham Central two weeks ago.
“All around, I’ve been pleased (with the defense),” Collins Hill head coach Kevin Reach said.
He’s not as positive about his offense.
“We can even be better,” he said. “I don’t feel like we’ve come close to peaking yet, not even close. I know we can play a lot better than the way we’ve been playing. No mistakes. No turnovers.”
Turnovers have plagued the Bears this year. But that changed last week along with the results.
“When you have a little bit of success it leaves you in better spirits and puts a little more pep in everybody’s step,” Giacone said.
Last meeting: Collins Hill won 40-7 last year.
