Students allegedly ate baked goods laced with marijuana

SUWANEE — Seven Peachtree Ridge High students, including three minors, are facing disciplinary action after one of them was dozing off in class after allegedly consuming baked goods laced with marijuana that morning.

An investigation into the incident began when the drowsy student went to the school’s clinic and indicated he wasn’t feeling well, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said. The incident happened on Sept. 17, but the investigation continued this week as a GCPS Police report on Tuesday said the students do not face charges because there wasn’t physical evidence.

While there aren’t pending charges, the students face disciplinary action because some of the them admitted to consuming the drug. There were also texts about the situation, Quintana said.

A disciplinary panel will review the incident, and any action also depends on each student’s discipline history.
