WINDER — An electrical issue likely sparked the blaze that took the life of an 18-month-old girl sleeping inside her Winder home.
Barrow County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Scott Dakin said Friday that investigators had completed their investigation into the Wednesday morning fire near the intersection of Rockwell Church and Moon Bridge roads. The fire destroyed the home, killed a toddler and sent three other residents — a 50-year-old male, 22-year-old female and 16-year-old female — to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
“The fire started in the area of the sun room and dining room of the home and spread quickly due to the open layout of the home,” Dakin said. “Investigators have concluded that the most probably cause of the fire was an electrical failure inside the structure.”
The 18-month-old was asleep in the room of origin, officials said.
Few other details have been made available. Identities of the victims have not been released.
