Investigators believe a Wednesday night shooting near Snellville may have been gang related.
The alleged shooter, 20-year-old Brandon Drummond, is in custody after turning himself in to the Snellville Police Department on Thursday evening. He was set to be transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he would be held without bond, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.
Gwinnett County police were called to 4491 Raptor Place in unincorporated Snellville about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after an adult male victim called to report being shot in the head. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“Detectives determined that the suspect fired shots from outside into the front of the house,” Smith said. “One of those shots struck the victim who was inside the house at the time.”
The alleged shooter fled in a vehicle, Smith said.
Police believe the victim was targeted. Though they don’t have “a clear affiliation” for the shooter, Smith said, “the possibility of this being a gang-related incident is under investigation.”
Wednesday’s shooting was only about a quarter-mile from Sunday night’s triple homicide on Anderson Livsey Lane. Officials said the incidents are not related.
