Suwanee to launch mobile app on Saturday

SUWANEE — While the city of Suwanee and its residents pay homage to the history of its annual festival, new technology will debut on Saturday.

That’s when Suwanee will launch a mobile app called “Go! Suwanee” at the 30th annual Suwanee Day festival. Attendees who download the app can receive a free lanyard with the city’s new logo at a booth in front of city hall. The app is available in the Apple and Google Play stores.

The app allows residents to submit service requests, check an event calendar, the city’s web site or find more information about the city’s parks. The app is also expected to add components with future updates. The city made the app in connection with New York-based PublicStuff, which specialize in making web sites and apps for local governments.

“This project aligns with our 20/20 Vision strategic plan, which calls for employing new technologies to communicate and engage with citizens,” assistant to the city manager Jessica Roth said in a press release. “In addition, City Council really wants citizens to be able to submit service requests from their phones.”
