PREP ROUNDUP: Powerful Bulldogs sweep Bears, Lions

LAWRENCEVILLE — North Gwinnett won a pair of matches as the Bulldogs defeated Mountain View 25-19, 25-15 and Peachtree Ridge 25-18, 25-15 on Tuesday.

Carson Nevels had 11 kills, Natalie Stout had 11 kills, Mekenzie Cronic 13 digs and Alyssa Munlyn eight kills and six blocks for North (28-3, 4-0).

Tearra Tatum had 13 kills and Haley Harvey had 11 digs as Peachtree Ridge went 1-1 as the Lions came back to defeat Habersham Central 25-20, 25-22. Mountain View also defeated Habersham Central 25-20, 25-19. Aysha Avery had 23 digs and Gabby Marquez had nine assists for the Bears (25-9, 3-1).

VOLLEYBALL

Parkview wins twice

LOGANVILLE — Parkview picked up two wins in area play with a 23-25, 25-18, 27-25 win over host Grayson and also defeated Central Gwinnett 25-19, 25-8 on Tuesday.

Bernice McGriff led the Parkview attack with 18 kills, four digs, one ace and one assist. Cori Harber had 43 assists, nine digs, nine aces and two blocks while Mia Mitchell had 27 digs for the Panthers.

Central came back to gain a split as the Black Knights pulled out a 17-25, 26-24, 25-18 win over Grayson. J’Lynn Chester had 16 assists for Central while Teryn Simmons and Anisha Williams each had seven kills. Courtnee Boyd added three kills and Jennifer Colclough had six digs and three aces for the Black Knights.

GAC sweeps, Brookwood splits

SNELLVILLE — Greater Atlanta Christian swept a pair of matches as the Spartans defeated Brookwood 38-40, 25-21, 25-22 and Archer 25-19, 25-20 on Tuesday.

Brookwood also defeated Archer 25-20, 25-9.

Tayler McPherson led GAC (13-13) with 25 kills and four blocks while Lauren Brown had nine kills. Emily Becker added 38 digs and Madison Kerr had 50 assists for GAC.

Blair Bolton had 15 kills and Kierra Shipman and Amelia Collins each had 13 kills for Brookwood (11-14, 3-0).

Norcross victorious twice

SNELLVILLE — Norcross defeated South Gwinnett 25-14, 25-19 and Rockdale County 17-25, 25-22, 25-17 on Tuesday.

Kolby Meeks had 24 kills and Iana Dingle 17 had digs and seven aces for the Blue Devils (16-10, 6-0). Sammie Baker added 31 assists and 11 digs and Shelby King chipped in 11 kills.

Dacula tops Berkmar

LILBURN — Dacula picked up a 25-17, 25-14 win over Berkmar on Tuesday. Julianna Wagar had eight kills, three digs and three aces while Casli Waugh had 14 digs, three kills and two aces for the Falcons.

Collins Hill win pair

SUWANEE — Collins Hill got a pair of wins as the Eagles knocked off Duluth 25-12, 25-18 and Mill Creek 25-19, 25-23 on Tuesday.

Molly Fine had eight aces, Imani Walker 16 kills and Jennifer Ahlswedt 28 assists for Collins Hill (14-11) in the two wins.

Lanier gets two wins

DAHLONEGA — Lanier grabbed two wins as the Longhorns got past Lumpkin County 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 and Monroe Area 25-19, 25-17 on Tuesday. Tori Wyant had 39 assists and six service points for Lanier (12-8, 3-1), while Victoria Inman had eight kills.

Providence takes two

LILBURN — Providence Christian defeated Prince Avenue Christian 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 and George Walton Academy 20-25, 25-19, 25-18 on Tuesday. Megan Parker had 22 assists and 21 digs while Casey Rose had 17 kills and 24 assists for the Storm. Anna Scott added 34 digs and 14 kills and Carly Dubay had 41 digs for the Storm.

Hebron wins two road matches

TALLULAH FALLS — Hebron Christian defeated Athens Christian 25-15, 25-7 and Tallulah Falls 25-6, 25-9 on Tuesday. Eden Murray had 18 kills and five blocks while Alli Johnson had 10 kills, Bridgette Odoro nine kills and Anna Katherine Wilson 43 assists for the Lions (26-5).

Shiloh rallies for two wins

NORCROSS — Shiloh grabbed a pair of comeback wins as the Generals defeated Newton County 22-25, 25-16, 25-19 and Alcovy 20-25, 25-20, 25-15 on Tuesday.

Briana Stith led Shiloh (3-21, 2-4) with 10 kills, nine digs, four aces and three blocks. Kinsasha Bell added five digs, four blocks, four aces and three kills while Angelique Little had 14 blocks and eight kills for the Generals. Bebe McEwen-Lopez chipped in six assists, four kills and two blocks.

SOFTBALL

Mountain View 7, Duluth 4

DULUTH — Mountain View took a 7-4 win over Duluth in Region 7-AAAAAA action on Tuesday. Madolyn Packer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Cara DeSander was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Courtney Kichefski and Courtney Roley were also 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bears (9-13, 3-6).

Shae Balzer was the winning pitcher for Mountain View. Toni Perrucci and Haley Wallace were both 2-for-4 while Amanda Simpson was 1-for-2 for the Wildcats (11-9, 3-6).

Dacula 5, Heritage 1

DACULA — Keeli Waugh picked up the win in the circle as Dacula defeated Heritage 5-1 on Tuesday. Waugh (4-1) allowed just two hits and struck out four and also went 1-for-2 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.

Sabrina Sieber also went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs while Alexis Deadwyler was 1-for-2 with a run scored for the Falcons (11-2).

Collins Hill 15, Norcross 0

NORCROSS — Collins Hill took a 15-0 four-inning win over Norcross as Amanda Chance got the win in the circle for the Eagles with a two-hit performance Tuesday.

Collins Hill was led by Reagan Morgan (2-for-2 with two RBIs), Lane Simmons (2-for-4 with three RBIs and two doubles), Jaimie Hoover (2-for-2 with three RBIs), Shelly Mooney 1-for-1 with two RBIs) and Aeshia Miles (3-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple).

Central Gwinnett 14,

Berkmar 2

LILBURN — Catelyn Davis and Taylor Croasmun each went 3-for-3 as Central Gwinnett rolled past Berkmar 14-2 in five innings in Region 8-AAAAAA action on Tuesday.

Faith Dickerson (5-10) picked up the win in the circle for the Black Knights and allowed just three hits and struck out nine. Dickerson also went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a triple and two RBIs.

Habersham Central 8,

Peachtree Ridge 7

CORNELIA — Peachtree Ridge dropped a tough 8-7 decision in eight innings on Tuesday. Maiha Johnson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases for the Lions and Brandi Mason went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Louise Uyu and Nacay Madison were also 2-for-4.

Lanier 15,

Johnson-Gainesville 2

GAINESVILLE — Lanier cruised to a 15-2 five-inning win over Johnson of Gainesville on Tuesday. Lauren Pettie was 2-for-4 with three runs and Holland Coursey was 3-for-4 with three runs for the Longhorns (9-11, 5-3).

Hannah Coursey also went 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs, while Kaylee Ramos was the winning pitcher and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a homer and three RBIs. Heather Kellett added a 2-for-4 night at the plate.

Buford 9, Fannin Co. 1

BUFORD — Buford rolled to an easy 9-1 win over Fannin County as the Wolves (17-1, 8-0) got a complete-game performance form Emily Crocker in the circle on Tuesday. Crocker allowed just three hits with a strikeout and two walks.

Tessa Daniels went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored while Jordan Deep was also 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three runs scored. Niki Cook and Baylee Sexton each went 2-for-3 for the Wolves.

Wesleyan 10, Westminster 2

ATLANTA — Wesleyan broke open a 3-2 game with a seven-run seventh inning as the Wolves defeated Westminster 10-2 in Region 6-AA on Tuesday.

Dacia Jones got the complete-game victory for Wesleyan and allowed just five hits and struck out three. Jameson Kavel went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Emily Farrow was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Riley Henning added a 2-for-3 night at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Gabby Hernandez also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Wolves (10-6, 4-0).

Athens Christian 9,

Providence Christian 1

ATHENS — Athens Christian knocked off Providence Christian 9-1 in Region 8-A play Tuesday. Brittany Tuttle led the Providence attack with two hits and Abigail Robertson added an RBI single for the Storm (8-11, 4-3). Robertson (5-5) also took the loss for Providence in the circle.
