MADISON — After two losses Friday, the Duluth softball team rebounded to go 3-0 Saturday in the Lady Dog Invitational at Morgan County.
On Friday, the Wildcats lost 4-1 to Salem and 2-0 to Heritage. Cassie Kooker (2-for-2) and Haley Wallace (RBI) led the way in the Salem game.
The offense got rolling Saturday with a 13-6 win over Salem behind Kooker's 3-for-5 day with an RBI, Toni Perrucci's 4-for-5 day with two RBIs, Haley Wallace's 4-for-5 day and Lindsey McKinney's 4-for-5 day with two RBIs. Rachel Matton added two hits and Kathleen Nguyen was the winning pitcher.
Duluth then beat Athens Christian 3-2. Kooker was 2-for-4 in that game, Perrucci was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Wallace was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Mackenzie Yarbrough was the winning pitcher.
The Wildcats (11-8) finished out Saturday with an 11-4 victory over Monroe Area. Kooker (3-for-5), Sydnee Worthy (2-for-3), Wallace (2-for-4, two RBIs), McKinney (3-for-3) and Amanda Simpson (2-for-2, two RBIs) led the offense. Yarbrough earned the win as pitcher.
