Pumpkin truck overturns, blocks I-75 in Butts Co.

Authorities say an accident involving an overturned tractor trailer hauling pumpkins caused problems on Interstate 75 in Butts County on Friday.

Fire Chief Mike Wilson said crews reported to him clearing the scene about 9:30 a.m. following the overnight accident at mile post 204.

The load didn't spill after the southbound truck overturned, but the several lanes of I-75 southbound were blocked through the morning and traffic through the city of Jackson was heavy as motorists sought alternate routes.

Wilson said a few pumpkins spilled as crews uprighted the rig.

No other vehicles were involved and authorities said the driver suffered only minor injuries.
