Gwinnett Daily Post
DULUTH — It’s election season, and while candidates in Gwinnett were busy qualifying to seek election to city council seats this November, another qualifying of sorts was held — one for canine candidates seeking the title of Duluth’s next Top Dog.
Four four-legged candidates are vying for the title of mayor of Chattapoochee Dog Park. They include Honey, a 4-year-old Great Dane, Marley, a 3-year-old golden labrador retriever, Moon Pie, a 1-year-old chocolate lab, and Penny, a 2-year-old lab/golden retriever mix. The candidates were selected based on their community involvement, application presentation and their campaign statements describing their recommendations for Chattapoochee Dog Park.
Duluth residents can vote for their favorite dog at one of five polling locations through Sept. 30:
• Duluth Duluth Animal Hospital at 2965 Buford Highway
• Crave Pie Studio at 3107-B Main St.
• Tiger Tales Animal Hospital at 2605 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard
• 2 Smith Art Gallery – 3150 Main St., Suite 101
• City of Duluth Bunten Road Activity Building – 3180 Bunten Road
The winner will be announced at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 during the fifth annual Chattapoochee Pet Fest at Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth.
