SUWANEE — A Suwanee couple hosting foreign exchange students in their home are accused of providing several of those children with alcohol before demanding at least two of them to strip.
Woo Ki Yi, 42, and wife Hyun Ju Yi, 40, were arrested late Wednesday evening and each charged with two counts of child molestation and six counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. Jail logs list Woo Yi’s occupation as “international host for students,” and arrest warrants issued by Gwinnett County police detail accusations of sexual improprieties undertaken with those students, believed to be from the couple’s native Korea.
Documents allege that, over a nine-week period beginning July 4, the Yis provided alcohol for at least six different children under the age of 21. Exact ages were not available Thursday, but at least two of the alleged victims were under 16 years old.
According to police, those two children were forced into sexual encounters by Woo Yi, who is accused of “directing them to take off their clothing and kiss the other children.” Hyun Yi is accused of observing that direction.
It was unclear Thursday how the allegations came to light. Full incident reports were not yet available.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred inside the Yis’ home on Regal Oaks Drive in Suwanee — a comfortably middle-class, two-story residence they purchased for $360,000 in 2005.
Gwinnett County jail records show both suspects are being held without bond.
