Cops searching for suspect in home invasion and robbery

BUFORD — Officers with the Gwinnett County Police Department are searching for a suspect in a Thursday afternoon home invasion and robbery.

The suspect reportedly entered a home on Suwanee Trail Drive in Buford about 3:35 p.m. where two boys, ages 14 and 10, were home alone. Detectives believe the suspect held the two boys captive for about 30 minutes. Neither was injured.

The suspect then fled the scene in a white Buick Century. Officers pursued the vehicle along Interstate 85 South near Beaver Ruin Road before it crashed off the highway near exit 86. The suspect fled on foot and as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday had not been located.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5’10” tall and about 170 pounds, and was wearing a white, V-neck shirt, camouflage shorts and red and black shoes. According to police, most, if not all, of the items stolen from the victims’ home was in the vehicle, and a handgun was also found. Police do not know if the suspect has any other weapons but consider him armed and dangerous.
