Suwanee nonprofit hosting low-cost pet vaccination clinic

SUWANEE — The Georgia SPCA will host a low-cost vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, and all proceeds will benefit the nonprofit pet rescue organization.

Rabies shots and distemper shots for both cats and dogs are $10, and Bordetella shots for dogs are also $10. Heartworm tests for dogs are $25, and microchipping is also $25.

All dogs should be on leashes and cats should be in carriers. If an animal has had a reaction to a vaccination in the past, the SPCA recommends seeing a veterinarian for shots.

The SPCA is at 1175 Buford Highway in Suwanee.

Mall of Georgia, Sugarloaf Mills invite families to Simon Kidgits Club events

BUFORD — Calling all princesses and pirates. The Mall of Georgia is hosting a Simon Kidgits Club Princess and Pirate Party from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Attendees can join fellow royals and buccaneers for a day of activities, arts and crafts and prize giveaways. The best-dressed princess or pirate will receive two tickets to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, so guests are encouraged to come in costume. The event is free for Kidgits Club members and $5 for non-members.

Also on Saturday, Sugarloaf Mills invites families to celebrate the 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz.” The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the food court.

Attendees will receive a map leading to various stations that feature viewings of film clips, cut-out character photo opportunities, movie-focused giveaways and craft-making and coloring activities, including decorating ruby slippers or a witch’s broom and making a scarecrow hat.
