DULUTH — The Duluth City Council approved authorization for a contract worth $79,500 to AMEC for preparation of the zoning code and subdivision/land development regulations.
The staff received three bids from firms, with AMEC presenting the best bid.
“We looked long and hard at the three proposals,” councilman Kelly Kelkenberg said. “I know we’ll be very pleased with this company.”
The council also approved a contingency request in the amount of $11,000 to resume postal mailing of the Duluth Life publication.
According to the meeting agenda, the staff felt that the city has experienced a disconnect in communication with residents since they stopped mailing hard copies of the magazine.
The council also approved a speed zone ordinance that allows for the use of speed detection devices within the city limits. The city is now responsible for placing speed limit signs and speed check by detection device signs for 30 days prior to radar use.
The city also recognized David Gentry and his dog Mayor Shiner for their efforts in representing the city as goodwill ambassadors during city events while promoting the “Spirit of Living” throughout the community.
