Norcross mayor participating in ‘Muslims for Life’ blood drive

NORCROSS — Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson will be among those participating today in a “Muslims for Life” blood drive in memory of 9/11 and the Boston Marathon bombing.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s Georgia Chapter will host their blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baitul Baqi mosque, located at 6113 Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross. Johnson will be donating blood at 1 p.m.

Sunday’s events are part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s two-month, nationwide “Muslims for Life” blood drive. The group’s goal is to collect at least 12,000 pints of blood, which have the capacity to save up to 36,000 lives.
