Fire and police to host public safety fall fest

LAWRENCEVILLE — The Gwinnett County Police Department and the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services are teaming up to host the fourth annual Public Safety Fall Festival at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 28. The event is at Coolray Field, which located at 2500 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville.

The event features fire truck, police motorcycle and helicopter displays, safety training demonstrations, kids’ activities, pet adoptions, a community yard sale and a softball face-off between Gwinnett County police officers and firefighters.

Pet charity organization hosts festival

LAWRENCEVILLE — Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen is inviting the public to Daffy Days 2013 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.

The festival will have a car show, live music by The Rockaholics and Mixed Genes, pet adoptions, vendor booths, kids and pets costume contest, silent auction and a petting zoo.

Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen was “founded in 2008 by Tom Wargo and SOS Club, Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen is an all-volunteer, (nonprofit) organization dedicated to helping pets stay in their homes when their families fall on difficult times.
