Shiloh Generals (8-AAAAAA)
Coach: Troy Hobbs
Last week: Beat Meadowcreek 48-7
Redan Raiders (6-AAAA)
Coach: Willie Griffieth
Last week: Lost to Troup 46-0
Shiloh opened the season last week with a big win over Meadowcreek that featured running Charles Shavers setting some school records along the way. The junior rushed for a school-record 261 yards on 11 carries and five touchdowns.
“The kid had an unbelievable game,” Shiloh head coach Troy Hobbs said. “He showed flashes of what he can do on Friday. I hold him now he has a target on his back.”
Shavers will get a chance to show last week’s game was no fluke against Redan, which fell to Troup 46-0 last week.
“They are always big and physical and play fast,” Hobbs said. “We have to prepare for them like they are 1-0.”
In addition to Shavers, quarterback Wil Larimore had a solid game by throwing for 112 yards and two TDs. Much of Shavers and Larimore’s success was due to the offensive line.
“Our offensive line played pretty well. That was a big lift for us,” Hobbs said.
Daron Bowles led the defense last week with 15 tackles, Jeremy McDuffie had an interception and Amari Newsome added 11 tackles.
