PREP ROUNDUP: Bock shuts out Central in Dacula win

LAWRENCEVILLEDacula (6-1, 3-0) pitcher Alaina Bock shut out the Central Gwinnett Black Knights over five innings to give the Falcons a 10-0 Region 8-AAAAAA win.

Bock allowed just two hits and struck out eight hitters while also knocking in two RBIs to lead her team to victory. Keeli Waugh went 2-for-2 with a double, while Deja Spring and Mackenzie Vanderhorst each went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI. Vanderhorst also scored two runs.


Wesleyan 10, St. Pius 2

ATLANTA Dacia Jones was the winning pitcher and also led her team at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs on the night to lead Wesleyan (5-4) to a 10-2 victory. On the mound, Jones pitched three innings and struck out four.

Berkmar 11, Pebblebrook 3

LILBURNBerkmar (1-3) topped Pebblebrook 11-3 for its first win of the season. Jasmine White was the winning pitcher for the Patriots. Berkmar was led at the plate by Asia Brown and Meagan Naraine.

Collins Hill 5, Brookwood 2

SUWANEE Collins Hill (5-0, 2-0) scored five runs off the bats of Jaimie Hoover (3-for-3) and Calli Starr (2-for-3) to beat Brookwood 5-2. Starting pitcher Aeisha Miles scattered four hits and struck out four Brookwood batters to earn the win. Aaliyah Bryant came on in relief to record the save.

Parkview 6, Norcross 5

LILBURN Parkview (5-7, 1-2) defeated Norcross 6-5 powered by Jessica Moody’s three RBI triple. Moody was 2-for-2 in the victory. Also contributing at the plate for the Panthers was Autumn Sizemore (2-for-3, run) and Kadie Rogers (1-for-4, RBI). Jada Lake picked up her second win of the season.

Mountain View

splits doubleheader

WINDERIn the first game of a doubleheader Mountain View (4-7, 0-2) defeated Apalachee 3-1. Cierra Miller was the winning pitcher in addition to going 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. The Bears also had good nights offensively from Kayla Morris (2-for-4) and Alaina Daugherty (1-for-2, RBI).

The Bears fell to Apalachee in the second game 7-2 as they gave up all seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. Courtney Kichefski, Shae Balzer, and Courtney Roley all went 2-for-3 in the game.

Northview 14, Duluth 9

DULUTH Duluth’s comeback came up short as it fell to Northview 14-9. After trailing 8-4 in the bottom of the seventh Amanda Simpson hit a two-run homer to tie the game. However, Northview would score six runs in the top of the ninth and Duluth could counter with only one. Simpson finished the game 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs.

Duluth (8-3, 3-2) also got contributions at the plate from Haley Wallace (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Cassie Kooker (2-for-5) and Toni Perucci (2-for-5).

Archer splits doubleheader with Lumpkin Co.

DAHLONEGA In the first game of a doubleheader Archer fell to Lumpkin County 4-2. Jacqui Switzer was 2-for-3 in the game with 3 runs to lead the Tigers.

Archer (8-4, 1-1) won the second game 10-2 in five innings. Starting pitcher Hannah Watkins pitched all five innings and allowed just three hits and one earned run. Offensively the Tigers were led by Alesha Mann (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Jenna Graham (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) and Aleah Marijanich (2-for-2, run).

Forsyth Central 11,

Providence 1

CUMMING Forsyth Central defeated Providence 11-1. Mackenzie Tuttle led the Storm going 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Katy Durry was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and Brittany Tuttle was 1-for-3 and scored the Storm’s only run.
