UGA, GSU to have blood drive competition

The University of Georgia will have a blood drive next week to compete against Georgia State University in the third annual event designed to foster school spirit and community service.

The UGA blood drive on Sept. 11 will be in the Memorial Hall ballroom, where donations will go to the American Red Cross.

The Georgia State blood drive will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Georgia State Sports Arena, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Commons. The drive is being promoted by UGA football coach Mark Richt and GSU football coach Trent Miles.

In Gwinnett on Sept. 19, donations to the “In the Red Zone” drive can be made from 2 to 6 p.m. at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church in Norcross. Donations in Gwinnett can be made to both schools.
