PREP ROUNDUP: Harrison strikes out 13 as North blanks Habersham 3-0

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett starter Hannah Harrison was nearly flawless in her start on Tuesday night against Habersham Central, holding the Raiders to just two hits with no walks and 13 strikeouts in leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 shutout.

Moriah Strother led the offense for North (6-2, 2-2 Region 7-AAAAAA) with two hits and an RBI, while Makenna Dowell went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Chase Battle also finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, while Harrison and Emily Dennis each went 1-for-3.

SOFTBALL

Collins Hill 9, Mountain View 0

SUWANEE — Collins Hill starter Amanda Chance pitched a three-hit shutout on Tuesday night as the Eagles blanked Mountain View 9-0 for a Region 7-AAAAAA win. Chance finished with three strikeouts.

Tyra Holiday led the offense, going 2-for-2 with a double, triple, three RBIs and a run, while Jaimie Hoover added a two-run homer.

Laine Simmons also delivered a pair of doubles, while Calli Star finished 2-for-3.

Mill Creek 9, Peachtree Ridge 7

SUWANEE — Mill Creek out slugged Peachtree Ridge 9-7 on Tuesday night for a Region 7-AAAAAA win.

Kaylyn Anthony led the offense for Mill Creek (8-2, 4-1), going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Morgan Bell went 2-for-3 with a double and a homer.

Kenzer Fagioli added two hits and an RBI, while Christian Evans finished 2-for-4 and drove in two. Heather Felt, who went 1-for-2 with a homer and a walk, was also the winning pitcher, going 5 1/3 innings with two strikeouts and four hits.

Kaitlyn Howell earned the save by pitching the final 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and three hits.

Andie McGregor of Peachtree Ridge (5-7, 2-3) went 1-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth that tied the score at 4-4. Maiah Johnson also went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, while Wynter Webb went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Shiloh 18, Rockdale 9

CONYERS — Courtni Jones went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs on Tuesday night in helping Shiloh (6-6) blast its way past Rockdale 18-9.

Sharai Lay also had three hits with two RBIs, while Asha Watson drove in one run on three hits. Aleese Ingram added two RBIs and two hits, while Areca Bender had two hits and an RBI.

The win went to Adia Randall, who went four innings with six runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Anya Solomon pitched the final three innings for the save, giving up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Norcross 3, Roswell 1

ROSWELL — Jessee Hoge went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs on Tuesday night in helping Norcross to a 3-1 win at Roswell in a non-region game.

Vanessa Bradford added a hit and an RBI for Norcross (6-6, 0-4), while Ally Shores finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Bradford also delivered seven strong innings on the mound in recording the win, giving up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Lanier 9, Stephens Co. 7

TOCCOA — Lanier notched its first Region 8-AAAA win on Tuesday night by topping Stephens County 9-7 in eight innings.

Holland Coursey led Lanier (3-7, 1-2) with two hits and two RBIs, while Noelle Petty went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Lauren Pettit and Isabelle Petty each went 2-for-4, while Kirstine Laughlin finished 2-for-3. Kaylee Ramos was the winning pitcher.

Buford 8, White Co. 0

BUFORD — Buford stayed unbeaten at 11-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 7-AAA on Tuesday night with an 8-0 shutout over White County in six innings.

Bria Bush pitched a complete game, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts in moving her record to 4-0.

Offensive leaders were Morgan Walters (2-for-3, two-run homer, two runs), Remington Hasty (double, two RBIs), Niki Cook (two hits, two runs, RBI, steal) and Baylee Sexton (2-for-3, two runs, RBI).

Providence 9, Towns Co. 1

HIAWASSEE — Providence improved to 6-7 overall and 4-1 in Region 8-A with a 9-1 win at Towns County on Tuesday night.

Abigail Roberson (4-3) was the winning pitcher, giving up one unearned run on four hits with 10 strikeouts. Roberson also added to the offense for Providence by going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Others helping on offense for the Storm were Katy Barry (2-for-3, two RBIs), Averie Ross (hit, two RBIs, run) and Brittany Tuttle (hit, RBI, run, two steals).

VOLLEYBALL

Parkview tops GAC and Providence

LILBURN — Parkview upped its record to 4-9 on Tuesday night with wins over Providence and Greater Atlanta Christian, sweeping Providence 25-18, 25-16 and getting past GAC in three games 11-25, 26-24, 25-14.

Rachel Rust had a solid night for Parkview with 12 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and four aces, while Cori Harber added 27 assists, eight kills, seven digs and six aces. Vicki Harris also finished with nine kills, nine blocks and seven digs, while Nia Mitchell tallied 32 digs.

GAC left Parkview with a split by virtue of a 25-16, 25-14 sweep of Providence. Leading hitter for GAC (4-9) was Lauren Brown with 16 kills, while Jaimisha Patel added six kills and two blocks. Emily Becker recorded 28 digs, while Madison Kerr delivered 36 assists.

Archer tops Central

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer picked up a win over rival Central Gwinnett in two games on Tuesday night, sweeping the Black Knights 25-10, 25-19.

Archer, who moved to 3-8, failed to record a sweep on the night as North Oconee topped the Tigers 25-17, 25-11.

Top players for Archer were Zanayah Richardson (three kills, assist, ace), Danae Jones (five kills, two aces, two blocks), Tiffany Cash (11 assists, five aces, two kills, block), Lanisha Thomas (nine kills, ace, block) and Akua Obeng-Akrofi (five blocks, two kills).

Central (0-12) also faced North Oconee and fell in two games 25-13, 25-9.

Norcross starts area play with two wins

SNELLVILLE — Norcross opened its Area 8-AAAAAA schedule on Tuesday with two wins, cruising past Druid Hills 25-10, 25-5 and host Shiloh 25-3, 25-6.

Kolby Meeks led Norcross (12-8, 2-0) in kills with 14, while Resa Knott added nine kills with five blocks. Iana Dingle also recorded 16 digs and eight aces, while Sammie Baker finished with 26 assists.

Shiloh’s bid at its first area win came up short as the Generals fell to Meadowcreek in two games 25-17, 25-15. Leaders on the night for Shiloh (1-9, 0-2) were Kinsasha Bell with five blocks, four digs and two aces, Briana Stith with seven kills, three digs and three aces and Bebe McEwen-Lopez with five assists, one dig and one ace.

Buford sweeps Decatur and West Hall

BUFORD — Buford ran its record to 10-7 on Tuesday night with wins over Decatur 26-24, 25-11 and West Hall 25-11, 25-10,

Gabby Curry was the leading hitter on the night for Buford with 14 kills and six digs, while Maggie Roper added 10 kills and 10 digs. Other contributors were Bree Horrocks with eight kills, Morgan Mitchell with 12 assists and Myra Sanchez with 17 assists.

Wesleyan wins three matches

LAWRENCEVILLE — Wesleyan posted three wins on Tuesday night, topping Berkmar 25-5, 25-8, Dacula 25-11, 25-8 and host Mountain View 28-11, 26-24.

Leaders for the Wolves (10-7) were Kristen Pack (10 aces, eight digs), Hannah Hoskin (20 digs, seven aces), Kendra Koetter (39 assists, 11 aces), Emma Bivings (13 kills, four aces) and Lauren Frerking (16 kills, five aces).

Mountain View (14-7) ended its night at 2-1 by adding wins over Dacula 25-15, 25-18 and Berkmar 25-18, 25-13.

Dacula (6-9) avoided being swept on the night by defeating Berkmar 25-12, 25-23. Cassidy Morris led Dacula with seven kills and five aces, while Tess Igervase added 13 kills and three aces.
