No traffic deaths over holiday weekend; 14 statewide

Gwinnett County saw no fatal traffic accidents over the Labor Day weekend.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety reported 14 traffic fatalities across the state during the holiday period, which began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at midnight Monday. That total marked a slight uptick from last year’s total of 13.

Four of the fatalities came in metro Atlanta, in the jurisdictions of Cobb County, DeKalb County and Roswell police. The latter was investigating two separate incidents.

Gwinnett County, though, had no fatalities. It had a single such crash during the 2012 Labor Day period.

Overall, the Georgia State Patrol reported 443 crashes over the weekend. Of those, 226 had injuries.
