NORCROSS — Comcast has announced a commitment to hiring 1,000 veterans across the company by 2015.
To that end, the company is hosting an open house and job fair for military veterans from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at its location at 2925 Courtyard Drive in Norcross.
During the open house, Comcast will provide veterans with information about career opportunities with the company and help link them to open positions.
“Comcast and NBCUniversal has a tradition — beginning with our founder Ralph Roberts, a veteran himself — of employing, supporting and promoting veterans in the workforce,” Will Baas, executive director for talent acquisition said in a news release. “Recently, we have enhanced these efforts by investing time, energy and resources to build a sustainable program that aims not just to attract and hire, but to foster a culture of support for the active duty military community and the reservists and veterans working company-wide.
Comcast is a participant in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s “Hiring Our Heroes” program and in 2011 committed to hiring 1,000 veterans by 2015. Comcast hired 1,000 veterans by 2013, achieving its goal two years early. Subsequently, Comcast committed to hiring another 1,000 by 2015.
