The owner of a ring found while police were executing a search warrant has come forward to claim the special memento.

Gwinnett County police had asked for the public’s help Friday finding the owner of a a silver class-ring style ring bearing the words “Vietnam Veteran” and the United States seal.

Acting on information from an Oct. 7 armed robbery at Jen’s Hallmark in Lawrenceville, authorities recently served a search warrant at the Duluth hotel room of suspect Tyone Davis. They recovered several items “linked to other burglaries” during that search, police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

They also found one item they couldn’t link to any known crime: the ring.

"The owner advised that he saw media coverage and decided to make sure his ring was in place," Smith said. "Upon checking, the victim discovered this ring and other jewelry were missing."

Davis is a career criminal that, according to Gwinnett jail records, has been arrested 15 times in the last 10 years.
