Collins Hill wide receiver/defensive back Grant McDonald won online voting this week as the Daily Post's Fans Choice Player of the Week.

The senior got 46 percent of the vote to win a competition with Mill Creek's Carter Governale (41 percent), South Gwinnett's Coray Keel (7 percent) and Shiloh's Jeremy McDuffie (5 percent). Nearly 7,300 votes were cast this week.

Each week during the football season, the Daily Post will nominate four players for its Fans Choice Player of the Week. Online voting at www.gwinnettprepsports.com will begin by Monday mornings and will end Thursdays at noon. The winner will be featured online and in the Friday print edition.

McDonald earned the award after a 77-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 48-yard reception for another score in last Friday's win over Meadowcreek.

"He's a great kid. The epitome of what we look for in a Collins Hill kid," Collins Hill head coach Kevin Reach said. "He's a big target out there (at wide receiver) and he does everything right. He blocks well. He's got good hands. He plays in the secondary and always seems to line up right. He's just a solid football player and he'll have an opportunity to play at the next level."
