Gwinnett Daily Post
Advanced voting will soon begin in earnest for this election season, as some ballots can be cast this weekend.
While Election Day is more than a week away, Gwinnett residents can vote on a key sales tax referendum and a state House race from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, to kick off the advanced voting period.
In addition to the county elections office on Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville, special voting locations will be open at the Centerville Community Center in Snellville, the Dacula Activity Building in Dacula, George Pierce Park Community Center in Suwanee and Lucky Shoals Park Community Center in Norcross.
The locations will also be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday next week for the advanced voting period.
Unlike Nov. 5, when voters must cast ballots at their local precinct between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Gwinnett voters can choose any of the locations to cast their ballots during the week prior to the election.
State law does not require local cities to participate in Saturday voting, but the municipalities with contested council elections and referenda will participate in the advanced voting period next week. Votes can be cast during normal business hours in Auburn, Berkeley Lake, Dacula, Duluth, Grayson, Lawrenceville, Loganville, Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Snellville.
