SNELLVILLE — This is your brain on drugs.
After a burglary at a local gas station last week, Snellville police officers are looking for a very special kind of smash-and-grab bandit: one after expensive glass bongs typically used to smoke marijuana.
Authorities responded to The Market convenience store at 2007 Scenic Highway just after 1 a.m. last Thursday. Upon arrival, they noticed that the front door glass had been broken out.
Once the store’s owner got to the scene, they all watched surveillance video.
“After watching the video it appeared a young white male … threw a large stone through the door and then entered the business,” an incident report said, “and (then) took another rock and broke open a display cabinet.”
The man — described as having short brown hair and wearing a gray long-sleeved hoodie and “black and white camo pants” — took three “glass smoking bongs” and damaged four others, police said. He then fled on foot toward the rear of the business.
Bongs like those stolen are legally marketed as tobacco-smoking products but typically used for ingesting marijuana. The bongs stolen and damaged during the burglary had a total value of just of $1,100, police said.
The suspect has not been arrested but was captured on surveillance footage. Anyone with information should call the Snellville Police Department at 770-985-3555.
